Is it ethical for sociologists to subjects?

Based on your reading, do you think it is ethical for sociologists to mislead research subjects or to NOT identify themselves as sociologists to their research participants? What if identifying themselves would put sociologists in danger? What if it would put someone else in danger? What if identifying themselves would destroy their ability to study a certain setting or group? Would this change your initial response? Why or why not?
