What is Cognitive Dissonance and why is it an important psychological concept?
(1) Ariely contends that “What You See is Not What your Get” – or, more specifically ”What You Think You Want is What you Get Even if It isn’t What You Actually Want”, i.e. that it is what you believe that you see (or want) that matters most AND that you can only see part of actual reality. Even then he suggests that your expectations are a dominant factor in determining what you perceive of reality – or what becomes your reality. Discuss
